Roles and Responsibilities

The following is an overview of MHA/League Executive positions with responsibilities. Individual MHA/League titles for these positions may vary, however, the responsibilities outlined herein must be assumed by MHA/League Executive Members.

PRESIDENT

  • Responsible for all administrative functions of MHA/League
  • Responsible for compliance with all pertinent aspects of HNS Constitution including, but not limited to registration, risk management, development and discipline, and time-sensitive issues included within each.
  • Responsible for all individual MHA/League-implied appointments
  • Ensures compliance of the MHA/League with HNSMC Constitution By-Law 1.5 – Membership: “ Each member shall adopt a Constitution and By-Laws in conformity with the Articles, By-Laws and Regulations of this Council and shall not at any time make any amendments to its Constitution or By-Laws conflicting with the Articles By-Laws and Regulations of this Association (HNSMC).”
  • Is an active member of the MHA/League

VICE PRESIDENT

  • Assists President and is responsible, in a supporting roll, inasmuch as the President.
  • May assume President’s role and responsibility in President’s absence, or as individual MHA Constitution demands
  • Is an active member of the MHA/League

RISK MANAGEMENT

  • Is responsible for the MHA/League education and implementation of all aspects of HNS Harassment and Abuse Policies, ‘Speak Out’ program, and all implied within each.
  • Is responsible for MHA/League enforcement of all violations of Hockey Canada/HNS insurance.
  • Is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of all violations of HNS Harassment and Abuse Policies as outlined by HNS Constitution and ‘Speak Out’ program.
  • Ensure all MHA/League volunteers are screened by a Criminal Records Check, and a Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • Expediting ‘Speak Out’ Programs as needed by the MHA/League

SECRETARY

  • Is responsible for the accurate and dutiful recording of minutes and account of happenings at each MHA/League ‘AGM’, ‘Executive’, ‘Special’, or ‘Other’ where any business of the MHA/League is decided.
  • Is responsible for the timely and accurate filing of MHA/League Constitution and Executive Member changes with HNS.
  • Is an active member of the MHA/League

REGISTRAR

  • Is responsible for the accurate and timely filing of the MHA/League registratrants with HNS.
  • Is an active member of the MHA/League

TREASURER

Is responsible for maintaining accurate financial record keeping for the MHA/League 

  • Is responsible for accurate and timely payment of all fees and other monies due to HNS.
  • Is an active member of the MHA/League

DISCIPLINE

  • Ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to enforce all Policies, Rules, By-Laws, and Regulations stipulated within HNS Constitution as they pertain to the MHA/League.
  • Enforce all suspensions and other sanctions imposed by HNS as they may apply to the MHA/League.
  • Keep accurate record keeping on all members of the MHA/League where applicable to Disciplinary measures.
  • Is an active member of the MHA/League

DEVELOPMENT

  • Ensure all coaches and trainers have appropriate levels
  • Keep accurate record keeping of all coaches within the MHA/League

Maintain contact with HNS Development Council for advancements within the Development field
