Hockey Nova Scotia’s Hockey Development Council (HDC) is responsible to lead the growth of participant development within the Branch. Working through a volunteer delivery network, the HDC administers and coordinates numerous programs in support of our players, coaches, officials, trainers, administrators and other volunteers on behalf of Hockey Nova Scotia.

Hockey Development Council is responsible to administer and coordinate numerous Branch development progams and activities including:

- Specialty Clinics
- Initiation Program Jamborees 
- Certification clinics for coaches (NCCP), trainers (HSP) and instructors (IP)
- Skills Competitions
- Hockey For All Camps
- Esso Fun Day Jamborees
- Female Skills First Clinics
- Coach Mentorship Program
- High Performance Programs
- Canada Winter Games Programs
- Development Weekend Festivals

Hockey Development Council is comprised of dedicated volunteers who hold specific responsibility for development programming. These include:

- Coordinator, Coaching Program - Bob Mayo (Dartmouth)

- Coordinator, Safety Program - Dwayne Semple (Tatamagouche)

- Coordinator, Initiation Program - Paul Smith (Halifax)

- Coordinator, Male High Performance Programs - Randy Morgan (Halifax)

- Coordinator, Female High Performance Programs - Ann MacMillan (Dartmouth)

- Chair, Hockey Development Council -Terry Moore (Sydney)

- Technical Director - Darren Sutherland (Hockey Nova Scotia office)

- Development Coordinator - Brad Taylor (Hockey Nova Scotia office)
