QUEBEC CITY — More than two dozen players from Nova Scotia heard their names called at the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft over the weekend.
In all, twenty-nine N.S. skaters and goaltenders were selected at the 2019 QMJHL Entry Draft in Quebec City on Saturday.
It was the most N.S. players taken since 29 Nova Scotians were picked at the draft in 2016.
Our 2019 Canada Winter Games male team captain Cam Whynot was the first to be chosen when the Sherbrooke Phoenix used the ninth overall pick to select him.

The Kentville native and Valley Wildcats (NSMMHL) blue-liner was the highest-scoring defenceman in the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League this past season.
Whynot was one of four Nova Scotians to be picked in the first round.
Cole Harbour WolfPack forward Riley Kidney was drafted 11th overall by the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, while Weeks Major Midgets forward Jacob Melanson was taken 15th overall by the Quebec Remparts, and Oscar Plandowski was chosen 18th by the Chicoutimi Sagueneens.
Below you will find a complete breakdown of all of the skaters and netminders from Nova Scotia that were picked.
Hockey Nova Scotia would like to congratulate all of the N.S. players who were drafted over the weekend.
