BOISBRIAND, Que.  Twenty players from Nova Scotia will have an opportunity to compete against eastern Canada's top prospects this week.
Team Nova Scotia will hit the ice tomorrow at the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's 2019 Gatorade Excellence Challenge in Boisbriand, Que. The tournament runs from April 25-28 at the Centre d'Excellence Sports Rousseau.

Hockey Nova Scotia’s team is made up of two goaltenders, six defensemen and 12 forwards from across the province.

In goal, Truro’s Oliver Arnfast and Inverness’s Kenzie MacPhail will share goaltending duties for Team Nova Scotia.


Nova Scotia's blue line will be made up of Tanner Greatorex (Truro), Oscar Plandowski (Halifax), Michael Sack (Shubenacadie), Luke Vardy (Hammonds Plains), Adam MacDonald (St. Margarets Bay), and Cam Whynot (Kentville).


Up front, Team Nova Scotia will be represented by forwards Dave Matthews (Louisdale), Sam Archibald (Debert), Cole Foston (Beaverbank), Riley Kidney (Enfield), Cam MacDonald (Upper Tantallon), Ben Boyd (Dartmouth), Jacob Melanson (Amherst), Joey Merriam (Milford), Colin Parker (Newport), Griffin Peers (Cole Harbour), Merle Putnam (Masstown), and Connor Trenholm (Cole Harbour).

Team Nova Scotia will be led by head coach Nick MacNeil (head coach, Cape Breton West Islanders, Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League), and assistant coaches Kyle MacDonald (technical director, TASA Minor Hockey Association and former Cape Breton West head coach) and Matt Malloy (assistant coach, Saint Mary's Huskies, AUS).

The Nova Scotia squad will take on Team Newfoundland and Labrador in their first game of the tournament on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Atlantic.
