Maddie Beck has been selected to Canada’s national women’s under-18 team and defenceman Allie Munroe has cracked the national women’s development team roster. Beck is a 17-year old netminder from Lunenburg who is currently competing for a spot on Nova Scotia’s 2019 Canada Winter Games roster. Munroe, a 21-year old defenceman and Yarmouth native, previously represented Nova Scotia at the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George, BC.

The rosters for the two teams were announced on Sunday following the conclusion of the Team Canada Summer Showcase. As part of the event, a total of 92 players were invited to attend the two camps, which involved on- and off-ice training, classroom sessions and fitness testing. The national women's development team camp also included games against Japan’s national women’s team and a team of U SPORTS all-stars, while the national women’s under-18 team camp include three intrasquad games before players were selected to compete against the United States.

The three-games series get underway on Thursday in Calgary.

Hockey Nova Scotia would like to congratulate Allie and Maddie on being named to their respective teams and wish them the best of luck in Calgary this week.
