On Friday, executive director Darren Cossar and president Garth Isenor welcomed our membership to the event and we heard about initiatives including the Hockey Nova Scotia-ISANS New Canadians Program, the Metro West Force New Canadians Program, the Bedford Blues Jump Into Hockey Program and the Sydney Steelers Special Needs Hockey Program. We also heard from Amy Walsh of the Chebucto Atlantics Minor Hockey Association about her association's new Junior Coach Program.

Kevin Figsby, Hockey Canada's Director of Program Delivery, was also in attendance at the event. He introduced the Hockey Canada Model Minor Hockey Association Program to our membership. For more information, visit Hockey Canada's website or find his presentation below.

On Saturday, Sackville Minor Hockey Association president Jeff O'Flaherty and Chebucto Atlantics Minor Hockey Association president Darryl Joseph made a presentation on half-ice hockey at the Novice level. It was proposed that beginning next season, half-ice hockey should be played throughout the entire hockey year. This proposal received unanimous support from our Minor Hockey Associations and Female Hockey Associations.
