MOUNT PEARL, N.L. — The Northern Subway Selects are Atlantic champions.
The Pictou-based Northern Subway Selects defeated the Northern Lightning, their rivals from the Nova Scotia Female Midget Hockey League (NSFMHL) 7-1 in the gold medal at Female Midget Atlantics in Mount Pearl, N.L. on Sunday.

Camryn Halliday led the way offensively for the Selects, notching a hat trick and adding an assist while Lily Currie picked up the win in goal.
The Selects finished the tournament with a perfect 5-0 record after dominating the competition during the round robin, posting wins over Newfoundland’s Western Warriors (7-1), the host Eastern Ice Breakers (9-1), the Mid Isle Wildcats of Prince Edward Island (2-0) and New Brunswick's Lightning (10-5).

During the course of the week, the NSFMHL champions outscored their opponents 35-8.
The Selects will now represent the region at the Esso Cup in Bridgewater, N.S. The national championship is hosted by the NSFMHL’s Metro Boston Pizza at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre. It runs from April 22-28.
