TICKETS ON SALE FOR NEXT MONTH'S ESSO CUP IN BRIDGEWATER
Mar. 15, 2018

BRIDGEWATER, N.S. – The 2018 Esso Cup in Bridgewater, N.S., will have a very local feel for opening night, April 22, when the tournament host, Metro Boston Pizza, faces the Atlantic Region champions during the primetime 7 p.m. game.

This year’s Esso Cup represents a partnership between Hockey Canada, Hockey Nova Scotia, and Metro Boston Pizza as five regional representatives (Atlantic, Ontario, Pacific, Quebec, West) join the hosts to compete for Canada’s National Female Midget Championship, April 22-28, 2018. The event will be held at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.

An Atlantic winner will be crowned at Female Midget Atlantics at the Glacier Arena in Mount Pearl, N.L. The event runs from March 29 to April 1.

The Nova Scotia Female Hockey League’s (NSFMHL) Nova Scotia provincial play-downs are underway. The Northern Subway Selects, who finished the regular season with the best record in the NSFMHL, are currently leading the MacIntyre Chevy Panthers 2-0 in the best-of-three provincial final. The winner will move on to represent the province at Atlantics in Mount Pearl.

Game three of the NSFMHL playdown between the Panthers and Selects is Friday at 7 p.m. at the Membertou Sports and Wellness Centre.

Tickets for the event can be purchased by clicking here.

TSN and RDS, Hockey Canada’s official broadcast partners, will televise the gold-medal game, while all other games will be available via live stream at HockeyCanada.ca/EssoCup.

Historically, the event has generated more than $1 million in local economic impact, with event proceeds being directed to supporting female hockey development in the community.

As with other Hockey Canada national championships, the net proceeds from all ticket sales remain in the host-community of Bridgewater to assist with hockey programs that encourage the growth of the game in Lunenburg County and surrounding community.
