LONG-TIME HPP VOLUNTEER JIM MIDGLEY NAMED NEW HEAD COACH OF QMJHL’S HALIFAX MOOSEHEADS

DARTMOUTH — There will be a familiar face at the helm of the Halifax Mooseheads next season.

Jim Midgley was announced as the new head coach of the Halifax Mooseheads this afternoon. Midgley takes over the job from Andre Tourigny who recently left the team to join the Ontario Hockey League’s Ottawa 67s.

Midgley has been with the Mooseheads since the 2011-12 season when he joined the team as an assistant coach. For more than a decade, Midgley has also volunteered his time with the Hockey Nova Scotia High Performance Program, serving in a variety of roles.

In 2015, Midgley was the head coach of Nova Scotia's Canada Winter Games male team. With Midgley behind the bench, the team defeated British Columbia 3-2 in the fifth-place game, their best finish since 1979.

For his contribution to development and the Hockey Nova Scotia High Performance Program, Midgley was awarded the Ken Mantin Award at the 2016 Hockey Nova Scotia Annual Awards Banquet.

Hockey Nova Scotia would like to congratulate Jim on his new coaching job and wish him the best of luck with the Halifax Mooseheads.
