All players planning to play Female Hockey next season must sign up by August 9

The Female Hockey Central Registry is now open for the 2017-18 hockey season. All players who plan on playing Female Hockey in Nova Scotia during the 2017-18 season must sign up through the registry.

The Female Hockey Central Registry was introduced in 2015 to help improve the administration of the female game in Nova Scotia. By signing up earlier in the year, players allow leagues and executive committees to organize more efficiently which helps get teams on the ice sooner.

As always, this process is completely free.

Below is a list of the five zones and one Female Hockey Association and the Minor Hockey Associations (MHAs) which make them up

IMPORTANT: All players planning to play Female Hockey during the 2017-18 season must sign up by August 9, 2017. Beginning this season, players from Cape Breton West MHA must sign up with the FEMALE CAPE BRETON ZONE.

Here is how the registry works: Female players will sign up online with one of six geographical zones based on where they live. These zones are made of the regions represented by our current Minor Hockey Association (MHA) borders. Registration is done online through the Hockey Canada Online Registration System.

For example, if your child played with the New Waterford MHA during the 2014-15 season, you will sign her up with the FEMALE CAPE BRETON ZONE. If she played hockey with the South Shore MHA during the 2014-15 season, you will sign her up with the FEMALE WESTERN ZONE.

When players have signed up with their respective Female Hockey Zone, they will be placed on teams by our Female Hockey Committees (or, if you are in Metro West, you will be placed on a team by your Female Hockey Association). Our committees will create teams and place players on those teams based on the location of players and their desired level of players. When a team has been formed, it will then be assigned back to a Minor Hockey Association in the Female Hockey Zone (or Female Hockey Association for players in Metro West). Players will pay their registration to their assigned Minor Hockey Association (while players in Metro West will pay their Female Hockey Association).

IMPORTANT: Players will have the option to sign up for both C-level (community level) hockey and either AA or A-level hockey.

If you have any questions about the registration process, please contact Sarath Holman ( at the Hockey Nova Scotia at 902.454.9400 or your local Regional Director or Conference Coordinator on Hockey Nova Scotia's Female Council.
