GLACE BAY – The Peewee A squad from the Glace Bay Miners Minor Hockey Association is the Nova Scotia entry in this year’s Good Deeds Cup contest.

A video showing the Miners’ Valentine’s Day visit with residents at the Taigh Na Mara continuing care home in Glace Bay was selected as one of the 13 finalist videos in this year’s contest.

Online voting opened today and continues throughout the next week. To vote for the Glace Bay Miners, please click here.

As part of their “good deed,” the team also made a donation to a Sydney Steelers player battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The winning entry in this year’s Good Deeds Cup will receive $10,000 for their team and $5,000 for the charity of their choice. The Miners have chosen the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia as their charity.

The winning team will also be presented with the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup at a winner’s ceremony in their hometown and receive a Good Deeds Cup Championship banner to hang in their home arena.
