DARTMOUTH – Hockey Nova Scotia announced today the coaching staffs that will lead the province’s male and female teams at the 2019 Canada Winter Games.

Jon Greenwood, an assistant coach with the Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL), will lead Nova Scotia’s male Canada Winter Games team as head coach. Greenwood will be joined by assistant coaches Erin King, an assistant coach with the Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL) and long-time Hockey Nova Scotia High Performance Program coach Tom Lee.

Kirk Tomlinson, a veteran coach with the Hockey Nova Scotia High Performance Program, was named head coach of Nova Scotia’s female Canada Winter Games team. Assistant coaches Isabelle Germain (head coach, King's-Edgehill School), Mike Perrin (head coach, Pro Cresting Penguins, NSFMHL) and Shauna Neary (assistant coach, Dalhousie Tigers, AUS) will assist Tomlinson behind the bench.

“We had some great candidates who made these selections difficult for us,” said Darren Sutherland, Hockey Nova Scotia’s development director. “We would like to thank everyone who took part in this process and we look forward to working with the staffs of both teams as we prepare for 2019.”

The 2019 Canada Winter Games will be held from February 15 to March 3, 2019 in Red Deer, Alta.

At the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George, B.C., Nova Scotia’s male team defeated British Columbia 3-2 in the fifth-place game to finish fifth overall, the province’s best finish since 1979. Nova Scotia’s female team defeated New Brunswick 2-0 in the seventh-place game to finish seventh in the female division.

Hockey Nova Scotia would like to congratulate all of these coaches on their selections.
