PRO CRESTING PENGUINS AWARDED 2017 FEMALE MIDGET ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIP
May. 9, 2016

DARTMOUTH – The best teams in Atlantic Canadian Female Midget hockey will be hitting the ice in East Hants next year.

The Nova Scotia Female Midget Hockey League’s Pro Cresting Penguins have been awarded the 2017 Female Midget Atlantic Championship. The event sees the top teams from New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia face off with regional bragging rights on the line.

“The Pro Cresting Penguins have been an exciting team to watch since they joined the Nova Scotia Female Midget Hockey League in 2008,” said Stephen Murray, Hockey Nova Scotia’s Chair of Female Hockey. “We are confident that the franchise will put on a great show both on and off the ice in East Hants next year.”

The five-team tournament will be played at the East Hants Sportsplex in East Hants, N.S. and will feature the host Penguins as well as the championship-winning teams from the four Atlantic Canadian provinces. The event gets underway on March 30, 2017 and will conclude on April 2.

The winner of the 2017 Female Midget Atlantic Championship will represent Atlantic Canada at the 2017 Esso Cup in Morden, Man. next year. The national championship runs from April 23-27, 2017.

Hockey Nova Scotia would like to congratulate the Pro Cresting Penguins on their successful bid and wish them the best of luck in 2017.
