METRO BOSTON PIZZA CLAIMS REGIONAL TITLE AT FEMALE MIDGET ATLANTICS

Charlottetown, PE – Nova Scotia’s Metro Boston Pizza are Atlantic champions in female midget hockey.

Metro Boston Pizza, the 2015-16 champions of the Nova Scotia Female Midget Hockey League (NSFMHL), defeated New Brunswick’s Moncton Rockets 4-0 this afternoon in the 2016 Female Midget Atlantics championship game at the MacLauchlan Arena in Charlottetown, PE.


Jenna Pellerin scored twice for Metro while Jessica O’Malley and Shannen Grandy had single markers. Josée Thibeau made 28 saves between the pipes for Metro to earn the victory and her third shutout of the tournament. Thibeau did not allow a goal against throughout the entire tournament.

Metro was undefeated during five tournament appearances and outscored their opponents 22-3. The Atlantic title win earns Metro the opportunity to represent the region at the 2016 Esso Cup in Weyburn, SK later this month. The national championship tournament runs from April 17-23.
