When the Calgary Inferno face-off against Les Montreal Canadiennes for the Clarkson Cup on Sunday afternoon, a pair of Nova Scotians will be among those looking to hoist the trophy.

Blayre Turnbull and Jill Saulnier are helping to lead their Calgary Inferno in Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL) play this season. Turnbull, a 22-year old forward from Stellarton, posted seven goals and nine assists in 22 games this year while Saulnier, a 24-year old from Halifax, had 12 goals and 10 assists for 22 points in 22 games.

The Calgary Inferno have never won the Clarkson Cup but they have been getting plenty of help from their rookies from Nova Scotia during this year’s playoffs run.

In their best-of-three sweep against the Brampton Thunder, Turnbull and Saulnier each chipped in a goal and two assists during the two-game series.

That series victory sets the stage for Sunday’s winner-take-all final against Les Canadiennes. The puck drops at 5 p.m. AST and you can catch the game live on Sportsnet.

Hockey Nova Scotia would like to wish Jill and Blayre the best of luck in this year’s Clarkson Cup. Good luck!
