Nova Scotia was well-represented on the ice in Boston last night.

Tuesday’s NHL match-up featuring the Washington Capitals and the Boston Bruins also featured some men-in-stripes from this province.

Truro’s Jon McIsaac and Lower Sackville’s Gord Dwyer took care of refereeing duties while Antigonish’s Matt MacPherson manned the lines.

Dwyer, a NHL official since 2003, was the senior-ranking referee on the ice in Boston. MacPherson has been working the lines since 2011 while McIsaac got his NHL start in 2013.

The trio weren’t the only Bluenosers on the ice, though. Birch Hill’s Zach Sill, a recent Washington Capitals acquisition, skated on the team’s fourth line. There was the possibility of a fifth Nova Scotian on the ice but Bruin Brad Marchand was forced to serve the second game of a three-game suspension.

Congrats to McIsaac, Dwyer and MacPherson on sharing the ice together and thank you for being great role models for our young officials.
