Hockey Nova Scotia wants you to vote for the Flurries this weekend!

The Chester Flurries are in the running for the national prize in the Hometown Hockey Cheer Like Never Before Contest after winning the Cole Harbour installment of the contest in February.

As the Cole Harbour winners of the Hometown Hockey Cheer Like Never Before Contest, the team enters the next stage of the competition against local contest winners from across the country so they need your support! If the team wins the national competition, they will receive tickets and a trip to an NHL game in Toronto. The winner is determined by online voting and they are up against some pretty big cities and towns so the Flurries need everyone’s support.

For those of you who don’t know their story, it’s pretty great!

The Flurries are the first all-girls team from Chester. Registered as a Peewee A team, the Flurries are made up of a collection of young women ages 9 to 13, including four underage Atom players and seven players who never played hockey before this season. Their coach says they show heart like no other team and they celebrate like no other team, even if they are losing. Although they have never won a game they have closed the gap on their competition, moving from 18-0 losses to recently posting only a 2-0 loss.

Despite the lopsided scores, the team still celebrates like this:
