The puck drops on the Don Johnson Memorial Cup at noon today in Port Hawkesbury at the Civic Centre as teams from across eastern Canada battle for the prestigious trophy.

The Don Johnson Memorial Cup tournament is one steeped in tradition and history at the Atlantic Canadian Jr. B level. This year, the tournament begins some new history as it becomes a true Eastern Canadian Jr. B Championship with the inclusion of the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League (EOJHL) champion Casselman Vikings.

The Vikings will join the host Strait Pirates of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League (NSJHL). The Pirates are one of two teams from Nova Scotia in the tournament as the NSJHL champion Sackville Blazers will also vie for the Don Johnson Memorial Cup thanks to a 6-2 victory over the Glace Bay Jr. Miners in Game 7 of the league final on Sunday.

The Blazers take on the Kensington Vipers of PEI's Island Junior Hockey League in the first game of the tournament today at noon.

New Brunswick's Fredericton Caps and Newfoundland's Roebothan, McKay and Marshall Avalon Junior Capitals will also compete in the tournament.

You can follow all of the action on the tournament website or you can stream it live on Bell Aliant Community One!

Hockey Nova Scotia would like to congratulate all teams on qualifying for the tournament and encourage fans to take in some great hockey at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre!
