HOCKEY DAY IN HALIFAX ON THE OVAL POSTPONED UNTIL SUNDAY, JAN. 26
Jan. 17, 2014
Hockey Day in Halifax has been rescheduled and you are invited!
The first ever Canadian Tire Jumpstart: Hockey Day in Halifax takes to the ice on Sunday, January 26th at the Emera Oval on the Halifax Common. The day promises to be a fun-filled celebration of Canada’s game.
From 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., there will be on-site demonstrations for newcomers to hockey who want to pick up a stick, lace up a pair of skates and try out the sport! There will also be an opportunity for those interested in sledge hockey to get in a sledge and play. Helmets will be available.
As well, there will be a female hockey showcase and Hockey Nova Scotia’s Black Youth Ice Hockey Program will be holding its weekly session on the Oval, too. Some young players from Hockey Nova Scotia’s Initiation Program (IP) will also be on the ice to show off their stuff! If your IP team is interested in taking part in Hockey Day in Halifax, please contact Mike Field as soon as possible. The first five IP teams to contact him will be allowed to take part in the day.
Hockey Nova Scotia instructors will be on-hand to assist with these demonstrations.
From 2 p.m. until 3 p.m., the ice will be open for a Jersey Skate. Players and skaters who want to go for a skate on the Oval are asked to wear their minor hockey jerseys or the sweater of their favourite team.
This event promises to be a lot of fun so come out and be a part of Hockey Day in Halifax on Sunday, January 26th!
