Family and friends of the late Jordan Boyd are planning an auction that they hope will help raise funds to create a scholarship in the young hockey player's name.

Boyd passed away last month after collapsing during a training session at the Acadie-Bathurst Titan’s rookie training camp in New Brunswick. He was just 16 years old.

The auction is scheduled for 7PM on Friday, September 27th at Brewster's Bar & Grill in Bedford (961 Bedford Highway), a restaurant Jordan often enjoyed with his family.

A group of friends and family have set up a committee and a trust fund in Boyd's name. All funds generated from the auction will go towards the trurst fund. The committee plans to annually award scholarships from the fund to Hockey Nova Scotia players who show dedication to both academics as well as the game of hockey.

The committee is also looking for some help from local businesses
Currently, they're encouraging those who be might be interested to donate things like "gift cards, vouchers, autographed team jerseys, hockey equipment (to be donated to families in need), memorabilia, tools, electronics, clothing, trips, accommodations, event tickets, or anything new and of value that will help generate funds!"

Auction items can be delivered to organizer Kody Cuvelier (902.880.1814). Monetary donations can be made out to Steven and Debbie Boyd (with the memo title: Jordan Boyd Scholarship Fund). They can be mailed to:
