Aug. 12, 2013

Hockey Nova Scotia wishes to send its deepest condolences to the family, friends and teammates of Jordan Boyd.

The 16-year old Bedford player passed away today in Bathurst, New Brunswick while attending the Acadie-Bathurst Titan’s rookie training camp. The team says the young player was transferred to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“This is a very sad day for the entire hockey community,” says Hockey Nova President Randy Pulsifer. “Jordan was a part of our high performance program and he represented Nova Scotia proudly. Our prayers are with the Boyd family on this tragic day.”

Boyd was a veteran of the Bedford minor hockey system. During the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons, Boyd played with the Bedford Barons of the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League. He spent this past year as a member of the Rothesay Netherwood prep school hockey club.

Most recently, Boyd represented Nova Scotia’s U16 team at the QMJHL Excellence Challenge in May where he gained a reputation as a talented player and a popular teammate.

Hockey Nova Scotia’s thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and teammates of Jordan Boyd.
