HNS launches female Varsity Connection program
Oct. 23, 2012

23 October, 2012 – Hockey Nova Scotia (HNS) is excited to announce the inaugural season of the Varsity Connection program.

The program is a female hockey initiative managed jointly by HNS and four Atlantic University Sport Women’s teams – Saint Mary’s University, Dalhousie University, St. Francis Xavier University and Mount Alison University.

The program is open to any Atom, Peewee, Bantam or Midget female hockey team in Nova Scotia to select one of the university teams in their region to have an interactive hockey experience including participating in off-ice warm-up, pre-game dressing room motivational speeches, watching the game in reserved seating and a social setting with refreshments after the game.

This initiative will pay dividends to the growth of female hockey in Nova Scotia as well as contribute to the ongoing development features of recreational and competitive players. It will put people in the seats and spike attendance as players.  Parents and team reps have the chance to enjoy a vastly improving and lively brand of women's university hockey,” says Stephen Murray chair Female Council Hockey Nova Scotia.

Teams can contact their local MHA or HNS Regional Director to get involved in the program and teams are scheduled on a first come first served basis.

HNS is also developing Female Hockey by becoming the first branch in Canada to produce and distribute a hockey resource booklet specific to female hockey “The Female Hockey Guide.”
