RE: DEFIBRILLATORS (AED’s)
As we begin the busy March Break and Provincial hockey season we are asking our MHA presidents take the initiative to ensure that all of the defibrillators (AED) in their surrounding arenas are charged and in working order. This will likely mean touching base with the arena managers. It would also be a good idea to encourage coaches, managers or trainers to double check that the location of the defibrillator (AED) and ensure it is charged prior to each game.
As most of you are aware, Hockey Nova Scotia had a near tragedy last season during provincials when the defibrillator in one of our arenas was not charged. Fortunately for all involved the end result was positive and we want to ensure all future incidents of this nature end in a positive manner as well.
Once again we ask that all coaches, managers or trainers take 30 seconds and check when you enter an arena to know where the defibrillator (AED) is located and ensure it is properly charged.
